Big Muddy Blues Festival on Lacledes Landing on 09/01-09/02/01

We only managed to make it out for the second day. It seems the crowd was even bigger this
year. That seemed odd since they had done so little in the way of advertising. We got there to
catch Snooky Pryor. I haven't seen him in a few years, and he is still up to the task of playing
some great harp. He was backed up by his son on bass, and some local St. Louis musicians on
the other instruments. They took it to task and turned in a great set. We caught a little of
Fontella Bass, who sounded great as ever, before heading to the other stage to catch the Bel-Airs.
As usual the Bel-Airs stole the show. They are hard to beat by any band. The crowd was very deep
but everyone was managing to dance. Finally we caught a few songs from Coco Montoya. Incredible
guitar work, that just leveled the people in front of the main stage. We ended up at B.B.'s for
an evening with The Bel-Airs
