The Cramps at Pop's on 05/31/03

Going to a show at Pop's is always an experience. The place was pretty
packed. The Electric opened the show. They are a fairly new St. Louis band and
this was the first time I've caught them. All I can say is "cool!" They put
on a hell of a set. Garage rock at it's finest. I need to get out and see them
again. Next up was Quintron and Miss Pussycat. Very cool stuff for one song. Then
it got kind of redundant. Basically a one man band that plays all the instruments
and throws in some wild sound effects. Miss Pussycat tosses out some backing
vocals. They ended it with a puppet show that was, well bizarre. Finally The
Cramps were up. They did what they always do, but that is exactly what you
want. Lux and Ivy look like they always have, I don't think they age.
Lux was just as insane as ever. Performing at 100% while dressed in black
latex. Maybe that is the aging secret...? They played all the "hits" and
were as tight as ever. Always a great show.
