Riverboat Gamblers and Boss Martians at Off Broadway 05/22/04

This one was recommended to me by Tim Jamison as a must see. Nashville Pussy was the same night,
so he had better be right! It was Rock and Roll Prom Night at Off Broadway and everyone was dressed
for it (well almost everyone.) SO that made it pretty cool. The Boss Martians were up first and they
put on a very good set up hard rockin' tunes. Some of them a bit more melodic and restrained but
others just full-bore. They had an excellent keyboard player that added to it.

Riverboat Gamblers were up next and within seconds these guys were at hyperspeed. The singer came
out and was standing on a table singing. Anyone that knows the tables at Off Broadway would probably
not recommend doing this. They are about big enough around to get a few drinks and and an ashtray on.
He was going to town standing on it. He then fell off and landed crotch first on the back of a chair.
I was in pain just watching it. He didn't miss a beat and kept going. At various points he climbed up
the speaker cabinets, the bar, more tables, anything that could be scaled he got on. How was the band?
These guys were the Rock and Roll equivalant of triathlon participants. They started rocking, sweat
started flying, amps looked ready to melt. This was an amazing show and I look forward to seeing them
again! Plus they did The Damned's "Fun Fun Fun."
