Rockin Jake at The Broadway Oyster Bar on 06/20/02
The band was in to do an after game/happy hour show. It wasn't a good day for it since they had Jack Buck's memorial today. As the crowd came in Jake was doing everything he could to get the crowd going. Everything seemed just a bit off. It was soon to change. About 3/4 of the way through the first set it seemed that the crowd started to get into it. That was all the band needed. Soon Jake was walking the length of the bar laying down some of the best harp playing this side of Rod Piazza. At one point he was walking the railing around the bar where he stopped to pull a lady up on it to dance with. She looked to be having a blast. The band played until 8 p.m. so it was a good three hour show. The crowd eventually got up and started dancing and a good time was had by all. We picked up his latest CD and a tasty bottle of Rockin Jake hot sauce. The band even offered up a toast to Jack Buck. Now that is a winner.
