Social Distortion at The Pageant on 02/16/02

The Street Dogs opened and put on a good set of tunes. I had not listened to
their CD yet. Very high energy and some great playing behind it. Up next was The
Backyard Babies. They some how just did not fit into the line-up. They tried to get
the audience into it, but everyone just stared and applauded kindly. They were actually
pretty good musicians and I've listend to their songs since and they rock. Social Distortion
came out and laid into a string of tunes off of the new album. The band seemed a bit
tighter this time than the last time they were here. It's been awhile since they have
done anything new and it is basically a whole new band, except Mike. WHen they went into
some of their well known tunes, you would not have known the difference though. The new
guitar player swapped licks with Mike that added a dynamic that wasn't there before.
A great show by a great band that needs to get out more often.
