Social Distortion at The Pageant on 06/11/02

Finally the return of Social D! It was a long wait and as usual Mike and company have
been through a lot since his last trip to St. Louis. So how was the new band? They were great,
not the same band for sure, but still hard to top. Their new guitar player picked up a lot
of the lead work. He was good, he did it almost too close how Mike plays though. He was either
being faithful to the originals or was told to play it that way. The new drummer was rock solid
however he also did not seem to have a grasp on some of the material. Not that he was off or
anything, just seemed to miss the style of some of the songs. But what do you expect when you
are following up someone like Chuck Biscuits. Mike was amazing as usual, a true original for sure.
The new songs were as amazing as the classics. Opening with Mommy's Little Monster and closing with
Ring Of Fire, and in between was just as great. Looking forward to the new album and another tour!

p.s. The opening band, The Hangmen, were pretty cool also.
