Tab Benoit at The Broadway Oyster Bar on 06/16/02
Another beautiful night at the Oyster Bar. What a way to spend your spring. What could be better than to have Tab play for you. There was a very large crowd and that is always nice to see. Tonight was a bit different though. I've seen Tab play many times, but he was on tonight! He's a good guitarist most of the time, but tonight he was like a cajun Stevie Ray Vaughn. He pulled everything out of the guitar he could. Strings were flying! It seemed like he broke one about every other song. At a couple points he went into a real quick strum and got a washboard like sound while throwing in notes. The band was dead on also, the bass player sounded amazing and knew when to lay back, and when to stick out. The drummer playing in kind also. The two longs sets he played just didn't seem enough. All the people worn out from dancing were wanting more. Since I met my wife at a Tab show, he'll always have special significance, but when he plays like this its just that much more!
