Weezer at The Family Arena

This started off bad. It took an hour and half to get their in the
pouring rain and rush hour traffic. After a good frisk where they were
taking away pens (hey they are pointy.) We got in. They put a wristband
around us for being 21 and drinking. We were also on the floor so that
meant another wristband. Both of which were covered up by my leather
jacket. So they were pointless, and passing a beer to an under age
kid would take no effort. With that said we caught a bit of Jimmy Eat
World. Pretty good poppy stuff, nothing to amazing. Tenacious D was up
next and were amazingly good. I laughed through most of the set. Jack
Black really has fun with it and plays the whole thing tongue in cheek.
The cool thing is that the music is pretty good and backs it up nicely.
Sort of an acoustic version of The Meatmen without being over the top.
Weezer came out finally and the crowd went nuts. I'd say I was the oldest
one in the crowd, but Beatle Bob was there. They played a great set,
River had some killer guitars. They played the mandatory hits, the coolest
of which was probably "Hash Pipe." Overall a good show. It took another
hour and half to get home, basically that long to get out of the parking
lot. I would not recommend The Family Arena for any concert, but depending
on who it is, I might go again.
